When Should I Start Botox?

Holly Shipley, PA-C Botox Blog

I get asked this question on a daily basis. In my opinion, there is no “rule” when it comes to the right age to start Botox because it varies per person. What I usually recommend is to start treatment when you develop static lines (wrinkles at rest) after making movements such as squinting or raising your brows. This actually starts to happen to some people in their mid twenties! In fact, a good portion of my patients wanting to try Botox for the first time are in their 20s and 30s. For those patients, I typically inject smaller doses of Botox (commonly referred as #BabyBotox to smooth out their skin and avoid a “frozen” or unnatural look.

Botox and other neuromodulators, such as Dysport, are also very important in preventing deeper lines from setting in, which are even harder to treat.  I’m all about small #tweakmentsstarting at a younger age, rather than needing a big overhaul when you reach your 50s! So if those pesky lines are starting to bother you, you may be a candidate for Botox. Other wrinkle preventative measures include sunscreen, moisturizers, and retinols.
